10 make-up mistakes you may not know about

21.06.2024

Marta Arce has put together a practical guide to the correct application and removal of make-up, which is essential for well-cared-for, healthy, and luminous skin.

Take a look at these ten mistakes we make with our regular make-up and find out how a professional make-up artist can help you correct them for radiant skin before and after every beauty session.

1. Not cleansing the skin before and after applying make-up

A clean face is essential, not only before applying make-up but also before going to sleep. We are neither the first nor the last to highlight the importance of keeping your skin clean. We recommend removing make-up as soon as you get home; you don't need to wait until the last minute before going to sleep.

Knowing your skin type is essential for choosing the cleanser that best suits your needs. Cleansing is a fundamental step in respecting and balancing the skin barrier. Excessive make-up removal or using aggressive products can lead to skin alterations

Multiactive Serum Cleanser is an excellent ally for nourishing, cleansing and respecting all skin types, working on 3 different levels.

1) This balm (non-foaming milk) has a slightly transformable texture, a low concentration of surfactants, and a very pleasant fragrance. It removes make-up gently and delicately in a single step.

2) The formula, which contains squalene, respects the hydrolipid film and improves the skin's elasticity by preventing moisture loss.

3) It also contains inulin, a prebiotic with moisturising properties and the ability to restore the skin's microbiome.

A trick you can do with this cleanser is to put a little dry product on your index finger and glide it gently over your lashes. It will not sting your eyes; you can remove it with warm water and just your hands. You will massage and remove the mascara without irritating your eyes whilst stimulating your circulation and taking care of your lashes.

2. Not moisturising before and after applying make-up

We cannot stress the importance of applying moisturiser after cleansing to nourish and condition your skin. This will also make your make-up look better and last longer. In fact, by taking care of our skin, we will use less because our skin is already moisturised and prepared, and by removing our make-up, we will be nourishing and pampering our skin while we sleep.

3. "More is less" with foundation

You don't need to apply foundation all over your face, nor should you overdo it to cover and conceal. Remember this beauty mantra: less is more. Your skin needs to look healthy, beautiful, and real. Make-up enhances it, so you can apply foundation only to certain areas to even out tone and add luminosity.

When choosing a foundation, knowing what results you want to achieve is essential to finding the product that can provide those results. For radiant, fresh, natural-looking skin, choose a lightweight, buildable foundation with a second-skin texture, such as Multiactive Serum Foundation. Formulated with peptides, vitamin C, CBD, and hyaluronic acid, it provides a 100% natural and even finish. The active ingredients in this tinted serum help improve skin texture, leaving it radiant and hydrated.

4. Don't mistake concealer for highlighter

It may seem obvious, but concealer is, as its name suggests, to correct, and a highlighter is there to illuminate. If we choose a concealer that is too light for our skin tone or highlight the area under our eyes, we accentuate it and create that "panda look" around our eyes.

Use a multifunctional concealer like Multiactive Brightening Concealer to prevent this. Formulated with peptides, caffeine, vitamin C, CBD, and hyaluronic acid, it restores and brightens the look in less than 1  minute. A RED LIPSTICK THAT WORKS TO COUNTERACT DARK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYES leaves them entirely and naturally blurred.

5. Eyeliner that is incorrectly applied or too dark in colour

Not all eye shapes are suitable for eyeliner, and if the lines are not clean, the effect will not be flattering. You have to apply eyeliner carefully, without rushing and understanding your features very well.

Should we use a colour that is too dark in relation to our skin tone, the colour of our hair and our eyelashes, we will achieve a result that is too fake, too obvious and not very flattering.

6. Applying too many coats of mascara

This is a very common mistake, and if we continue doing it, we will increase eye fatigue. The results can look heavy and dirty, with clumps caused by applying too many layers. If you want to wear make-up for a natural look, Multiactive Treatment Black Mascara is your best ally. Formulated with Argan Oil, D-panthenol, Peptides, and Castor Oil, this lifting mascara opens the eyes and nourishes, lengthens, and strengthens lashes in depth.

7. Not combing or applying make-up to eyebrows

Eyeliner mistakes, such as not filling in enough when the line is too thin, altering its natural shape, waxing it too much, or simply not styling it, can ruin the overall result of our make-up.

Multiactive Treatment Transparent Mascara lets you define your eyebrows and style your lashes naturally without make-up. It is formulated with peptides, D-panthenol, oleic acid and a patented cocktail of botanicals. Daily use gives your lashes more strength and moisture. They are protected, curled, fuller... Nourished and conditioned from the root upwards!

8. When applying blush, use a brush all over the face

Blush is neither a bronzer nor a concealer that can be applied to more areas of the face. It should be applied to the cheeks or the bridge of the nose if you want a sun-kissed effect.

Multiactive Serum Blush is an easy-to-apply blush. Its creamy formula with lapacho oil and caffeine brightens, enhances, firms, and hydrates the skin for a natural, healthy-looking blush. It can be applied to the cheekbones, nose, and lips.

9. Outlining the mouth above its natural profile using an inappropriate colour

Following this "technique" we can lose proportion in size and tone that harmonises and beautifies our face and lips.

10. Not filling in the corners of the lips

It is very noticeable when we apply red or dark lipstick. Forgetting to fill in the corners of the lips means that when we speak or gesticulate, the lack of colour and the whole lip shape can be seen, so the effect is unfinished, changing the shape of our lips and the expression of our face. The lips need to be fully made up.

Multiactive Advanced Lip Serum makes it easy. Lip balms with retinol, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, argan oil, and shea butter protect, hydrate, improve texture, rejuvenate, plump, and smooth lips. Two different colours: the semi-matte red Carmen and the glossy pink Gloria. The third option is you, a colourless moisturising balm.
